Adding bookmark keywords in Google Chrome

Creating bookmark keywords is really easy with Firefox. While editing a bookmark's properties, simply add a keyword and you're set. However, such feature isn't directly available with Google Chrome. Here's a tiny tutorial on how to add bookmark keywords to your browser.

In this particular example we'll be creating an bookmark that allows you to check within seconds if a site is down through downforeveryoneorjustme(dot)com. As you can see the url is ridiculously long. Although you could simply bookmark the website, there is a simpler method to check a site's status.

1. Launch Google Chrome
2. Click on the wrench icon at the top of your browser and select Options
3. Under the 'Basics' tab, find the 'Default search' and click 'Manage'
4. Click 'Add' and fill in the information
5. Give the search engine a name. It can be whatever you want.
6. Choose the keyword you'll type in the address bar.
7. Indicate the url with %s where the keywords you search for will appear.

If you're doing a bookmark for downforeveryoneorjustme(dot)com it should look like this:

After saving the new search engine, try typing "down warez-bb.org" in your address bar. If it works, you'll be sent to the downforeveryoneorjustme website. Hooray! Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to search for Warez-BB threads through this method.
