to all 300mb movie and 60mb anime x264 encoders

well this is just a heads up for those who are encoding on small filesizes mainly the 300mb movie encoders and 60mb anime encoders ill just copy paste what i said on other forums about what im about to say here it is

in my own understanding this new option of x264 called mbtree rate control increases the bitrate efficiency yet again and even lowering the filesize by as much as 25 percent even in CRF mode (as stated by the second link, the user reported that when he uses level 4.1 output and a crf of 18, the movies he encodes on old x264 builds will give him 10-11 GB but when he turned on mbtree on newer builds of x264 it becomes 7.5 GB so it something like 25 percent of filesize reduction with thesame quality. so if your encoding 60 mb anime (on 2-pass mode) on newer builds of x264 that has mbtree turn on it actually has thesame quality as 75 mb anime and if you normally have an output of 90 mb on crf mode on older x264 then you will get around 67.5 mb only on newer x264 with mbtree turned on plus the video quality has increased too

it uses crf value 42 and we all know thats very low quality lol especially if the resolution is so high like 720x480 but still the video is very much watchable

so thats it another way to lessen the filesize but will still retain the video quality

and neglect the doom9 saying that this feature is experimental because its now working all fine and yes this feature can be use on 2-pass/average bitrate/filesize encode and crf mode (or constant quality mode)
