Shoutcast Radio broadcasting

This will enable you to start your own radio/audio stream to your friends or audience. (HOSTING YOURSELF)

its not 100% perfect so you may need additional information

Ok so you will need all the right tools , namely winamp ,the dsp plugin , and the dnas shoutcast server . Thats what you need to begin firstly configure the dnas server , By opening the shoutcast dnas folder or start menu entry and choosing "edit shoutcast dnas configuration" once clicked it will open a text file , containing some details you will need to amend to start your stream successfully
it will look something like this


Now the details you will want to change are the following ,

MaxUser.  The maximum number of simultaneous listeners allowed.
; Compute a reasonable value for your available upstream bandwidth (i.e. if

(Again make a password where it states "adminpass" )
The rest of the settings should work ok on default in terms of network.
Next you need to open winamp > options > preferences > Dsp effect > then shoutcast source plugin , under each category of the dsp set it accordingly to your needs i will briefly try to outline the various ones .
Looks something like this

1. Under main > nothing to be done
2.Next choose > Encoder , encoder one should be fine choose a format like mp3 and the bitrate you would like to stream at in this example i will say 64 kbps mp3


3.Under input choose whatever your source is : winamp / or sound card input if you are playing from line or stereo mix / wave out / what you hear / mp3 out
4. Now under out put choose output one to correspond with what you set under encoder in the earlier step.

Set the port as 8000 and the password as you initially did in the server config file , localhost as the address as indicated in the image.
You then need to open the shoutcast dnas server , which will look like this

You should now be able to click on connect in the shoutcast dsp plugin , it will indicate sent data by way of a counter , that way you know you are sending .
If you are behind a router you may need to enable port forwarding on port 8000-8005 tcp , if you get stuck doing that part go to portforward.com and look for the guide that corresponds to your router , also allow it past any fire walls that may be active .
Now im sure you want to know how people will tune into your stream ....
You need to know your external ip adress , google whats my ip should easily provide you with it . once you have the ip and the server up and running ,
Have your listeners go to

wheres x is your ip.
Your ip may change if you have a dynamic ip , if this is the case you can use a dynamic update client like "no-ip" this will keep outside entities in touch with your current ip.

Im not much for writing these kind of guides but i hope this helps. (Im sure i left something out too :) )
