[GUIDE] Assassin's Creed II Workaround (Current: 1776 Pair)

A lot of people are getting confused as to what the hell they are supposed to do to get the game to work. Well, I was one of those people until I learned exactly what were the problems that I faced and how I got around them.

First thing you want to do is make sure you erase anything you with. To save you and me the headaches, do this on a fresh install from the MULTI9 CLONEDVD.

You have to follow this guide step by step or else the game will simply not run. Guide assumes you have already installed the game.

1. Run the game ("%PROGRAMFILES%\Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed II\AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe").
2. You'll notice that the launcher will update itself. This update is necessary for the server emulator to work. If you don't do this, you're ~Oh Deficate!~ out of luck.
3. After the client updates and asks you to login/create an account, simply exit it.
4. Find your hosts file (%WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts).
5. Double-Click on it and Open it with Notepad.
6. Copy the following lines and paste them so they are listed first before anything else:

7. Now go to Start > Run and type "CMD" then click OK.



8. Type "ipconfig /flushdns" without quot's and then press ENTER:



Close the Command Prompt Window.

9. Download the current Server Emulator:

10. Download the current values.db file (This file contains the packet signatures required to communicated with the Game Launcher. This file will update through time as we discover more signatures so keep an eye on here):

11. Update values.db found in the Server Emulator's Directory with the one you just downloaded. By simply overwriting the old values.db with the one you just downloaded.

12. Make sure Skype.exe or any similar programs that utilize web servers are shut down or disabled or else the server will quit instantly (Flashes for a millisecond with an error). If you are still getting Errors, make sure you don't have any Firewall applications running.

13. Simply run server.exe (As Administrator) and you should see the following:



14. Run AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe (%PROGRAMFILES%\Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed II\AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe").

15. When prompted to Login, pick a username and stick with it. It will be your save directory. So if you want to make sure you save your game, always login with that same username. Password can be whatever.

16. Click the "Play Now!" button.

17. Enjoy!


IMPORTANT
If u are getting the internet connection error you must copy and past the V1.7 of the ubisoft launcher which is included in the latest server emulator (v0.44) -kunit1

This guide was written in compliance with version 0.31 of the server emulator. Due to current changes in 0.44, you are strongly advised to read the rest of this topic for any extra information. I have no intentions of updating any of the steps in this topic. However I will update the links as new versions come out.
