How to skip forced warning & trailers on DVDs

You know the ones i'm talking about. On retail DVDs-- The fbi warning, movie company logo animations, the trailers etc........ Some DVDs force you to sit through these by not allowing your player to FF, Skip, go directly to the main menu or just start the movie right after you insert the DVD into the machine. I hate that!
To skip all that crap, including the fbi copyright screen, and go directly to the main menu for the movie, start the DVD, then at anytime press Stop-Stop- Play and you will be taken directly to the DVDs main menu.
