Have a Windows application you need to use once in a while? No problem. Every new Mac lets you install Windows XP and Vista and run them at native speeds, using a built-in utility called Boot Camp.

Setup is simple and safe for your Mac files. After you?ve completed the installation, you can boot up your Mac using either Mac OS X or Windows. (That?s why it?s called Boot Camp.) Or if you want to run Windows and Mac applications at the same time ? without rebooting ? you can install Windows using VMware or Parallels software.

Windows Installation via Boot Camp Assistant

• In OS X, Navigate to your Utilities folder and open Boot Camp Assistant
  
• Create a Windows partition
  
• Insert your Windows installation disk
  
• Reboot your computer via the Boot Camp GUI
  
• Install Windows as you normally would.
  
• Once in Windows, either insert your OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD or Download Boot Camp 3.0 Files
  

32-Bit Boot Camp Installation

• Explore the OS X DVD or Extract the files from the Boot Camp download
  
• Navigate to Windows Support > Boot Camp > Setup.exe.
  
• Run this program and let it install all the relevant drivers.
  
• Reboot your computer.
  
• Download the 32-bit Boot Camp 3.1 update and install it.
  
• Reboot your computer.
  
• Download and install the latest graphics drivers for your computer.
  

64-Bit Boot Camp Installation

• Explore the OS X DVD or Extract the files from the Boot Camp download to your home (user) folder.
  
• Open an administrative command prompt. (Search > "cmd" > Right click "Run as Administrator")
  
• Navigate to the location of the Boot Camp Files
  
  
  
  • DVD -- Run this command: D:
    
  • DOWNLOAD -- Run this command: cd %USERPROFILE%
    
  
  
• Run this command: cd "Windows Support/Boot Camp/Drivers/Apple"
  
• Run this command: msiexec /i BootCamp64.msi
  
• Once the installation has finished, Reboot.
  
• Download and install the 64-bit Boot Camp 3.1 update and install it.
  
• Reboot your computer.
  
• Download and install the latest graphics drivers for your computer.

After your installation is finished you can choose which operating system to boot into either using software (Boot Camp in Windows, Startup Disk in OS X) or hardware (Hold Alt-Option when you hear the first sound during startup)
