This page should explain most questions and explain what the codes mean and what they are for. As well well have the links to explain the individual codes like NTSC and PAL.

So for those who want and explanation about them, or some kind of clarification. Also reading further some programs like AnyDvD are mentioned one how to break the coding if the games were to be played on a system from a different Region.

Like the PSP, the PlayStation 3 is region free for all PS3 games. However, backward compatibility modes (i.e. PlayStation 1 and 2 games) are region locked. Blu-ray Disc and DVD region codes are also enforced. While the PS3 does have hardware regional lockout support, Sony apparently has no intentions to use it.

Question: how would this effect games played with an Emulator? thanks to whoever can answer that question for me
