Fileserve Support For the Rapidshares link Checker
Hey everyone, Inspired by a linkchecker i seen being used by our very own thierry0wnz i decided to do a short tutorial on how to get the Rapidshare Link checker to work with Fileserve.
As you can see in the above pic a green checkmark has been placed next to the fileserve link to signify a working link!
To get this working this is what i did.
For everyone who is not familiar with the rapidshare link checker, its just a script used in conjunction with an addon for Firefox called greasemonkey. Tho Greasemonkey works with the Opera browser for this tutorial we shall assume you have Firefox 3+ installed.
So First step in preperation is to install Greasemonkey using the link below!
After installing Greasemonkey and restarting Firefox, You will see a monkey icon on the lower right side of the Firefox window on the statusbar!
Next we need to head over to userscripts which is a repository for Greasemonkey scripts and install the rapid share link checker! Click the link below and look for the green install button on the top of the page! After that a second window will open up and just choose install again!
Now for the purpose of this tutorial we are going to need a text editor capable of showing line numbers.I recommend Notepad++ but if you have an editor that can show line numbers you can skip this step! If not follow the link below to install Notepad++. Its free and opensource!
So Now that you have Firefox, Greasemonkey, Rapidshare Link Checker and a text editor capable of showing line numbers installed we can begin configuring the link checker to support fileserve.
****************************** Step 1
First with firefox open "Right" click on the Greasemonkey icon on the bottom right of the firefox window and choose manage user scripts! Then Click on the "Rapidshare link checker" on the top left of that window and then on the bottom right there is a section called excluded pages and an "ADD" button!
Click the add button and add
then just close it and press add again and do the same for
****************************** Step 2
Now making sure that the Rs link checker is still highlighted on the top left of the manage user scripts window! Look at the bottom left where is says "drag and drop with mouse.." Right below that there is a edit button ! Click it and choose your preferred text editor! I suggest notepadd++ . well any text editor that displays line numbers so you can see what line you're coding on! (so just navigate to programfiles folder and find youre text editor) For notepad++ it is usually located in your local C: drive in:
After you choose an editor, it will open the huge java-script file called "rapidshare_links_checker.user.js".
This is the file we are going to edit so it can do the task of checking our Fileserve links!
****************************** Step 3
Ok so now scroll down to "around" line 260 or so under the "function set_variables()" section. This line needs to be added to the group (doesn't have to be an exact line.. mine was line 262):
****************************** Step 4
Now that you done that at around line 1745 or so you will see some code groupings that look like the below... Just add the below after one of the groups! I added mine on line 1756 !
****************************** Step 5
Next at around line 1559 i added! (you will see the lines for the other host .. It doesn't have to be line 1559 exactly just add it in the group)
Now Save the file and close your text editor! We are done...
Ok I hope i made it easy for the peeps looking to get fileserve working with the link checker!
For people who just cant get it to work you can look at my "rapidshare_links_checker.user.js" file by downloading it from this link below!
I guess technically you could add the Fileserve addresses to the exclusion list in the manage user scripts windows like we did in step 1 and then click edit on the left and just copy and paste my "rapidshare_links_checker.user.js" file over yours but that wouldn't be any fun now would it! :)
Ok Have fun. I originally made this for the Fileserve thread but after the positive feedback received a member suggested i add it to the tutorials section so here it is!
Hope you guys like it!!!
You can test the link checker at one of my Fileserve threads located below:
