How to DOWNGRADE iPhone Firmware from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2. ( Only for 2G, 3G and 3Gs who have send ECID to saurik )



*This downgrade will downgrade ONLY Firmware ( FW ) and not BaseBand ( BB )! So that means that you will be able after downgrade JB your iDevice with blackra1n or redsn0w, and only 2G iPhones are permanently unlocked!

**This tutorial can be also used for iPT ( iPod Touch all Gen )
***In case that you have problem restoring iPhone to 3.1.2 you cna use this tutorial too just to change hosts file and after that SHIFT+Restore with 3.1.2 FW!


NOTE for 3Gs users
The first requirement is that Cydia has your SHSH details stored for 3.1.2. If you have opened Cydia and seen green text at the top "This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS: 3.1.2" then you can restore to 3.1.2. Look at the picture below

2. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users make sure the program Notepad has Administrator privileges (find Notepad, right click, select Run as Administrator).
On your Windows PC Browse C->WINDOWS->system32->drivers->etc
(if you installed Windows on a different drive letter browse to that on instead of "C")
Right click on hosts and select Open.



Choose Notepad and click OK.



Add "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" at the end of the file. Save it.



Before continuing enter restore mode. One way to do this is disconnect your phone from the computer and turn your phone off. Start iTunes. Hold the home button on your phone and plug it in. Continue holding the home button until iTunes indicates you are in restore mode.



3. Now you'll be at a screen similar to the one below. Hold the Shift key while you click Restore.
4. Browse to the 3.1.2 firmware file you downloaded earlier. Select it and click Open.



Click Restore.

Once done your phone will reboot and you'll be back on 3.1.2.

So, you are now on 3.1.2 FW and you can JB your iDevice with redsn0w ( but you can't unlock it because there is no unlock for new BB 05.12.01 ).

NOTE 1:
If you get error message 1011 or 1013 just ignore it. If you get error message 1015 repeat the entire restore then jailbreak after it fails the second time.

NOTE 2:
If you have edited the HOSTS file to add the IP Adress for Apple, and it still doesnt work? Make sure you have made the HOSTS file READ ONLY, like it was before you edited it, otherwise iTunes will not acknowledge the HOSTS file. This WILL work, because it has done so for me.

How to mark as Read-Only
- Right click the file and click Properties
- Mark the box Read Only
- Click Apply
- Now try restoring the iPod Touch/iPhone with the firmware you downloaded (shift+click)
